What is Computer Vision Anyway | Unitlab Annotate

Computer vision does not exist in isolation; it is part of the broader AI field intersecting with machine learning, robotics, and neural networks. As such, the blogs we cover include discussions on computer vision, AI, ML, and other related domains.

CV is part of broader AI | neurosys

Numerous companies, communities, and individuals maintain blogs on computer vision, making it challenging to highlight only ten. Given the abundance of high-quality blogs and content, we have opted not to include Medium-based blogs, which often echo primary sites like Analytics Vidhya on Medium. Instead, we focus on blogs independently hosted on the internet.

We sought to showcase a diverse set of blogs, ranging from tutorials and real-world use cases to innovative products in computer vision, as well as expert opinions and insights. The blogs we selected vary in difficulty: some are general and beginner-friendly, others cater to seasoned practitioners and researchers, and a few lie somewhere in between.

Blog Categories

To provide a broad perspective on the computer vision blog landscape, we categorized blogs run by companies, communities, and individuals. Each group offers unique benefits—company blogs typically emphasize product innovation and industry applications; community blogs concentrate on education, tutorials, and open-source tools; and individual blogs provide expert insights grounded in real-world experiences.

Company blogs

Company blogs are created by businesses offering tools, platforms, or solutions for computer vision tasks—often featuring image annotation solutions, data labeling tools, or software for managing AI datasets. They frequently focus on practical applications, product updates, and real-world case studies. If you want to stay informed about third-party solutions or experiment with the latest tools, these are the blogs to follow.

Community blogs

These originate from academic or community-driven groups and place emphasis on open-source resources, academic research, and tutorials that empower the community. For those looking to enhance their technical computer vision skills, these blogs are invaluable.

Individual blogs

Written by researchers, practitioners, or enthusiasts, individual blogs offer expert perspectives, personal experiences, and unique viewpoints on computer vision. If you seek distinctive, thought-provoking commentary on areas such as AI, ML, CV, and their sub-fields, i.e. data labeling, these blogs deliver the content you need.

Top 10 Blogs

Because these blogs vary greatly in focus, the rankings below should be viewed as an informal list rather than a strict hierarchy. We include descriptions to help you decide which blog may best suit your needs.

Company Blogs

The following four blogs are maintained by companies, each focusing on different aspects of computer vision.

1. Unitlab Blog

Focus: Data annotation and practical computer vision tools

We begin with the blog you are currently reading: the Unitlab Blog, which specializes in image data annotation, dataset management, and data annotation services—critical components for training CV models. At Unitlab AI, we have two main priorities for our blog (this post aligns with the second one):

  1. Presenting our latest product innovations and updates on data labeling
  2. Sharing educational and practical content on computer vision

Whether you aim to refine your image annotation workflow with auto labeling tools, enhance dataset version control, or explore best practices in data annotation for AI/ML models, this blog provides what you need. Expect to see content on a variety of computer vision topics, with a strong emphasis on image labeling and annotation.

2. Roboflow Blog

Focus: Data preparation and augmentation for computer vision.

Roboflow is a platform specializing in data annotation and data labeling for computer vision, particularly focusing on data preparation, auto labeling, and augmentation. Its blog contains comprehensive tutorials on dataset creation, image labeling tools, and model deployment, often highlighting Roboflow’s products. Since the company is active in the computer vision space, it covers a wide range of topics, including real case studies, model fine-tuning, and product updates.
